My question involves criminal law for the state of: IDAHO
Hey all,
I have a quick question regarding Clemency and Pardoning.
Situation: I was convicted of a (f) burglary back in 2004. I entered an open garage and stole pool cues and a cell phone. I was given a withheld judgment for the case and put on supervised probation for 5 years. Unfortunately, this withheld judgment was revoked in 2006 because of a DUI (one and only DUI) I received. The two years of probation I served were voided out and I was put back on supervised probation for another 5 years. In total, I spent 5 years on supervised probation and 2 years on unsupervised probation. I never served any jail or prison time for either offense.
From 2006 to today: I've completed my probation, I've stayed employed with the same employer for 8 years, my wife and I own a bakery, I'm 30 credits shy of receiving my BS in Psychology. I've essentially turned a new leaf and I haven't looked back.
The main concern is eligibility for employment. I fear that once completing my programming at the university it will be extremely hard for me to get a job in a field that involves behavioral health or working with people 1 on 1. I'm lucky to have the job I have now and I'm forever grateful for this opportunity. I need something different and something more rewarding.
Two questions:
Am I wasting my time petitioning for a pardon or clemency? I'm hoping the court can do something with the felony which makes it easier for future employment.
What are the chances that it will be granted? If there is a possibility, what are some steps I can take to increase my chances of getting a little pardon or clemency?
Any advice or information pertinent to my situation would be much appreciated. Thanks for your help all.
