We own land in Oklahoma adjacent to neighbors who now are parsing their property into 15 acre tracts. One of the new property owners is in the process of building a house and is trying to get electricity to his property.
He asked the seller to allow the electric company to run lines from his pole to the property but refused. By the way, the seller put a clause in the purchase contract that they had to build a house within 5 years from purchase. Now the new property owner is trying to connect to our line which requires an additional pole on our land and obstructs views from the back of our house.
We have refused for now but continued to be pressured to provide a right of way easement to the electric company. Seems to me the seller of the land ultimately has the responsibility for the development of the property he is now selling.
What rights do we have and is there a course of action we should take?
