My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Arkansas.
Basically , I signed a written lease with apartments. Before my move in date I changed my mind because of gang activity I seen in the apartment parking lot. Went to the office , the man told me since the lease isnt effective until my move in date, its okay to back out the lease. Also he called his supervisor and she agreed it was okay. Then four days later(past my move in date), they tell my I have bad news I cant refund none of your money you put in also you have to still pay the remaining lease or theyll report it to the credit bureau. Since the lease was signed in the first place. I have evidence that they agreed it was okay to end the lease. Isnt that a lawsuit? Technically me and the apartment had a verbal agreement to end the lease that I have proof of.
