Protective Services: Can You Check a Child Out of the Hospital Without a Release from the Surgeon

My question involves checking out my child of a hospital. My daughter recently had surgery on her piloric muscle for piloric stenosis. My oldest son also had the same problem but was treated at a different facility. Hes still doing great to this day. My daughter is doing well also mild spitting up and so on. Been waiting all day. Going on 7 hours for her surgeon to do a follow up and still no sign of him . can I legally check my daughter out with out seeing the surgeo?
