My husband that I have been with for 5 years wants to adopt my 9 year old son. Mt ex husband objects to the adoption. He has court ordered visitation but he doesn't follow the ordered schedule. He wants to see him when it's convenient for him, which is usually when he has a new girlfriend. There was never a child support order when we were divorced because he was unemployed. The judge ordered that until he could maintain employment there would be no child support order. That was 7 years ago and his father still has not found a job. My new husband has offered to adopt my son and take the financial responsibility since he has been the primary caretaker for the last 5 years and my ex husband still objects but will not financially help. Is there any way I can get his rights terminated so my husband can adopt my son?
