Hi, so if a name is not trademarked or copyrighted, can it be used in a novel? I searched the trademark/copyright data base and none of the names are on it. I checked with a friend who is an attorney, but specializes in civil law, and he went over it and said I should be okay. The names have been used on an old tv show, but they are common names (I've known 3 people with the names).
