My question involves a child custody case from the State of: NY
My daughter is a heroin addict. She has a 1 year old and we would like to try to get custody of the baby. The babies father died from an overdose in Sept 2016. My daughter was a recovering addict at that time but has since started using again. My daughter lives at my home with the baby. My wife would take a leave of absence in order to care for the baby. We are reluctant to call CPS as we have heard horror stories and we do not want to our grandchild put in foster care, not even for a minute. How should we procede?
