My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Texas. My best friend sold her vehicle to my mom last year because it was not running and she couldn't afford to repair it. My mom understood and bought the car as a way to help my friend who needed the extra money. My mom lives in Texas also but in another city. My mom was not able to complete the title change in her town because a form needed my friend's signature. We kept putting it off and my friend passed away this year, which took us all by surprise. We never got the forms signed and filed. Last year, my friend did provide a release of lien and signed the title over to my mom, but never got a chance to sign the form the DMV requires. The car will not be in any will or probate, so what can my mom do now to get the title transfer?
