My question involves criminal law for the state of: Montana.
I was in Montana in 2006 and got a DUI, I was just there working and left the day after. I appeared for first hearing through a Kinkos video thing. Anyways long story short 10 years later never took care of it and I got a paper in the mail form the sheriffs office saying they currently have a warrant for me... I live in WI now. So I called and they said email the judge what's going on and he will give you options. I did an they emailed me back saying I need to make a trip to Montana and a minimum of 30 days in jail. My question is they say they have suspended my license but its still valid(I checked), and that a warrant will remain for my arrest till I appear. My thought is I cant afford to go to MT right now Im also a single dad working 2 jobs, so do I just blow it off till I can afford to show up? I talked to a lawyer in MT and of course for $3500 he can take the case which I cant afford right now. Someone said just don't got to MT, but I want it off my record but I don't want to get pulled over in WI and end up in jail and extradited. Anyone with any adivice?
