Disabilities and Accommodation: Attending Training While on Disability

My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: California

Hi, all-

I am on Short Term Disability until the end of March.

My employer has scheduled a training class for the last week of this month that I really need to attend, but I am being told that I cannot attend the training (either on-site or remotely) because it would "end my disability".

I am actually the one person in the company who should attend this training as I am the primary resource who uses the product being trained.

Anyway, I know CA has a rule where you can still receive disability benefits while working part-time and I've seen references to "working intermittently".

It seems like there should be a way I can attend this training without adversely affecting (or ending) my disability benefits.

I would even be willing to attend the training on my own time, but my employer doesn't want me physically on the premises while I am on disability (not sure why, I believe they regard it as a liability issue.)

I could remote into the training sessions, however.

Could I do so without affecting my disability benefits?

Best,

Coati
