My question involves civil rights in the State of: Texas In 2011 I was convicted of conspiracy and violation of the federal gun act buy purchasing weapons for someone who could not. I was given 5 years probation but was released due to excellent behavior after 16 months. I have nothing else on my record and was wanting to be able to purchase guns to teach my kids how to shoot as well as hoping to eventually apply for a CHL (my job with the city allows us to carry if licensed due to the tough areas we have to work and our personal safety at times). Is this a possibility? I was told after 5 years I could purchase a weapon for my home but wanted to verify that before I get embarrassed trying to purchase one or have other problems coming my way from the attempt. I made 1 mistake and was hoping my rights would not be gone for ever because of it, can anyone give me good info on how or what to do if it is possible. Thank you.
