My question involves adoption law for the State of: Michigan when I turn 18 by my stepfather
I have decided over the past couple year with the rocky relationship that I have with my biological dad, that now that I am turning 18 in a couple months that I wish that my step dad adopts me. I know when I am 18 I can decide whether or not I still want to see my real dad or not but being adopted by my step dad would finally make sure that I am his daughter not just his step daughter. Is this a possibility? Is it complicated? Because I am not sure if my real dad would give consent, but does he have any say if I am making this decision when I am 18 years old? I live with my mom, sister, and step dad and my step dad has been in my life for over 11 years. This is not a rushed decision. I just want to see if its an option.
