My question involves court procedures for the state of: Texas.
October 12th, 2017, I went to court for a hearing. I am the defendant. I am being sued by a previous apartment complex I had lived at. I broke the lease and left early due to family illness.
They are past the statute of limitations and this was my affirmative defense. However, I had filed a motion to dismiss/non suit before the hearing. The judge had asked if the plaintiff had any citations and they replied no. The judge ordered that we return after one month in order for us (plaintiff and defendant) to do more research. I have a vague idea about citations. I need to know how to go about preparing this for the judge. Can anyone help guide me somewhat. I know I need to figure out everything the plaintiff will try to bring and I want to be sure I am prepared. Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you!
