Roommates: Being Forced to Move from Condo; My Name is on Lease

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: California

My boyfriend and I leased a condo together (we are both business owners in our 50s) in April 2016. He became emotionally abusive soon thereafter and eventually walked out about 6 weeks ago. He knows I cannot afford the rent on my own so has demanded that I move out by the end of the year. As of last week he moved it to the end of October. He continues to bully and threaten me and I am in fear for my safety at this point. I am moving out this weekend. He has never hit me but he did kill my dog. He said it was an accident. He kicked a 4lb yorkie with workboots on.

He is now threatening me that if I don't leave everything he has ever purchased (including gifts or items purchased prior to moving in together) he will sue me for not paying my share of the rent until the lease expires. He is moving back into the condo after I leave. I am leaving all the furniture we purchased after we moved in together; it went on my credit card but he paid for it.

Can he sue me if he is the one who forced me out? If he decides not to pay the rent, am I liable to the landlord even though he has forced me to leave?

I have done everything this man has asked of me. I have texts and emails of his threats and demands for me to move.

Thank you,
