My question involves education in the state of: Florida
I go to a college where one of my classes is a hybrid class (mostly online work with a few meet-up days at the school). On the first day, which was a meet-up day, my professor was a no show and we had a substitute which didn't give us any work to do so it was a waste of time. The sub told us that the class had been changed to 6 weeks instead of the 8-week class we had signed up for. Later the professor confirmed this. We were halfway through the first week before any work was made available to us, so my 8-week class is now a 5 1/2-week class. Some of the answers on the reviews and quizzes conflict with each other and the book. I have emailed him my concerns about a few things and he refuses to email me or the other students back. He scheduled our second meet-up day on a holiday that the school was closed on then canceled it. I emailed him asking when the next meeting would be. It was about two weeks to get a response (not through email, but a general post to our online page). We have had quizzes that he did not open up online for us to take until a week after they were originally supposed to be due. He opened up the midterm for us online 4 days late, so I ended up taking that and the other 2 quizzes he opened up late on the hotel computer in the lobby (not the best environment for taking a test) because I was out town. If he opened them up when he was supposed to, I wouldn't have had to take time out of my vacation to take the quizzes and midterm. Also, this professor doesn't have to spend time on grading. Everything we have done is automatically graded so there is no excuse for him not getting things done. I have expressed my concerns with the Dean of Admissions and did not get anywhere with that. He did tell me that the professor did not have the authority to change the class from 8 weeks to 6 weeks. I feel like I am being bullied around and there is nothing I can do about it. The other students in my class feel the same way. What can I do?
