How can I go about finding the specific code requirements for finishing a basement in my locality? I assume it goes by the UCC but I'm having trouble finding my answer there. Essentially I need to know if I can have 2 bedrooms and a family room in an unfinished basement. The basement is poured concrete and is below ground on 3 sides. The 4th side has a full-size door for egress to the ground level. There are two small "basement windows" (that no adult could fit thru), and there will be the stairs to the main level where there is also egress. My local municipality does not have much info on their website in regard to code. Thanks.
