My question involves criminal law for the state of: Colorado
Hi. I've been charged with shoplifting at Walmart for items just under $600, which I believe qualifies this as a class 1 misdemeanor. This is my first offense. I pled not guilty at my arraignment. I would like to negotiate a plea bargain (deferred sentence?) to keep this from going to trial. I'm not clear on whether or not I can do this, how I do it, and I'm wondering if I can do it successfully without representation. I'm not financially stable, so if I can do this without a lawyer, I'd prefer that. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
