My question involves paternity law for the State of: Illinois
My husband recently learned he may be the father of a child with an ex girlfriend. Another man is on the birth certificate but she believes my husband may be the biological father. We have requested a paternity test and the mother refuses. She believes it would complicate the daughters life. We want to do what's right by the girl if she is my husband's daughter, we have a child together and we'd want them to know their sibling.
Is there any legal way for us to force this test? Or way for us to legally protect ourselves if someday she tried to take us to court for child support?
