Speeding Tickets: Receiving a Mandatory Court Appearance for Going 15 Miles Over the Speed Limit

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Missouri



Hi, I'm new here so I'm sorry if this has been answered but we're in a real pickle. I'll try to make this as easy to understand as possible.


My boyfriend and I came down to Missouri from VA for a few months to visit family. My boyfriend got pulled over for going 15 miles over the speed limit, the officer wrote mandatory court appearance on the ticket. Now back then he had a Virginia license. He has since gotten a Missouri license to purchase a car down here.

Now we need to get back to Virginia for work on the 1st of September, but his court date is on the 31st, he has already gotten 3 continuances on it.

My questions are:

How/why? Did the cop give him a mandatory court appearance on a speeding ticket going 15 miles over the speed limit. Which is 5 miles less than the actual speed you need to go for a mandatory court appearance.And two brackets under that said offense.


Does my boyfriend have to show up to court? Or could he just go to the office and pay it?


Lastly, is there someone we can call to get his ticket payable in Virginia?
