My question involves real estate located in the State of: California
We have a shared fenced in our backyard with a neighbor. The fence recently was damaged in a windstorm so much that it split open with enough room for our dogs and their dogs to get through to each other (we have young kids and one of their dogs is a bit ferocious).
Because it was an urgent need to repair the fence we did not give them the full 30 days notice as stated in Ca Code 840 and replaced the fence yesterday (we gave them about a week notice).
My question is because it was an "urgent need for repair/replacement" do we stand a chance at getting the property owner to pay for half?
The people living there are tenants and have refused to give us the property owner's information. We are going to have to find it somehow to ask them to pay.
Thanks!
