Moving Out: Roommate is Threatening That I Have to Renew Here Though I Don't Want To

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: VA

Landlord rented to us almost a year ago, and only because the TWO of us were on the lease. She would not rent to JUST my roommate, or JUST me. She needed TWO people. So, our lease is up in 90 days,

I gave my landlord notice TODAY via email that i will NOT be renewing, and that I do not wish to stay here after the lease is up. Our lease automatically renews [unless notice to vacate is given]. However my roommate is SO angry I am leaving [she now has an eviction on her record, along with her BF having two. meanwhile my records CLEAN]. She's claiming that my landlord said i am forced to renew unless we BOTH put in notice to vacate.

uhhh, can i seriously be legally forced to keep my name here when i do not want to? [My roommate iss very very dirty, I cannot live here anymore. Not to mention she has a dog and boyfriend living here outside of our lease which our landlord refused to do anything about].

So, pretty much am I bound to be here even with giving 90 days notice to vacate?

Thanks..
