My question involves a child custody case from the State of: New York
I just applied for Public Assistance in December 2017 due to hardships and in order to receive benefits I had to put my husband (father of my kids) on child support. I recently got a job and no longer need assistance. I went down to the HRA service department and gave them a written notice where I am requesting the closure of my case. It has only been open for a month. My husband has always provided financial support for our two kids ever since we separated and I had given them a notarized letter of that but yet a petition was filed and now we have to go to court on Feb 1st. If I don't appear the letter says I will be sanctioned, but If I closed my case with HRA is the sanction still valid? Is there an alternative on closing the case? I tried calling the courts today but only seem to get through to a full voicemail box. Please help, much appreciated.
