Chapter 7: Removing Ch 7 Bankruptcy from Credit Report

My question involves bankruptcy in the state of: Hawaii

If a person files for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and the bankruptcy is dismissed because the creditor was able to settle with the debtor (not discharged), the persons' credit report will still show that there was a bankruptcy filing and will remain on their credit report for 10 years.

A credit repair company claims to be able to remove these bankruptcy's from an individuals credit report before the 10 year period expires.

Is this legal? How do they do it?

What are the pitfalls this individual should be aware of?
