My question involves personal property located in the State of: Texas
A mechanic shop (Nogalitos Gear) offered to have my vehicle towed to their shop from my home on their dime to evaluate it and give me an free estimate of what it would cost to repair the rear end. The drive shaft had fallen off. He asked me to sell him my vehicle which I refused to do. The owner called me several days later and informed me that it would cost $2495.61 to repair my vehicle. I asked him for a itemized list of the parts and cost required. He would not provide this information to me. I informed him that I did not need his services at this time. I told him that I wanted to have my vehicle picked up and returned to my home. Which I was going to pay for myself. He now states that since I am not going to get my vehicle repaired by him I have to pay. I was informed that I had to pay the towing and labor done to take and now put my truck back together again, up to 500.00, to get my vehicle back. I refuse to give this man my hard earned money for no reason. What he wants from me was not part of his proposal. My truck was fine sitting in my driveway until I could have someone fix it for me. Everything was verbally done, nothing was given to me to sign for anything. What legal grounds do I have to retrieve my vehicle from this mechanic shop?
