My question involves real estate located in the State of: Ohio
I have a question. My grandfather passed away and left my step-grandmother a life lease (or estate) to his house, but left all other assets to her in his will. She has now passed away and the house is now in my father and aunt's name. However, my step-grandmother's heirs have taken things that I believe should have been left to the property and were not part of her estate. They took wall heaters, the garage door openers (the garage can no longer be secured because of it), the propane tank and regulator off of the house and many other things that should have been included in the natural upkeep of the house. My question is, how do my father and aunt go about getting compensated for the damages done to the house. Even though the property/house has nothing to do with her estate, are they able to submit a claim for damages against her estate? Is it something they are able to do without legal representation? They do not have a lot of money to fix up what has been taken or to have a prolonged court battle with attorney fees, so I am trying to figure out what recourse they have. Thanks :)
