Libel: A Jealous Boyfriend Attacking Me

My question involves defamation in the state of: Pennslyvania

So I was having a conversation with a friend of mine, whom I've known for some 8 years now. I've called this young lady "beautiful" as a generic term of affection, as I have all my unwed male and female friends, namely my adoptive brother/best friend. While a few have asked me to stop saying this, I've respected their wishes and resorted to a name they prefer (usually their first name), my lady friend has neither approved nor disapproved of this nick name. While it's not consistent name for her, I've finished a conversation with "Do me a favor, beautiful: Have a good night."

Now I admit I've called her this since she was around 16 at the youngest but likely 17 if my memory is failure. I know addressing a person as beautiful isn't illegal. I've also not had physical contact with said person, EVER. I've never even sent an inappropriate picture of myself to them. I've never said anything even slightest off color. Now, her boyfriend is apparently going through her Facebook messages and sends me a message that includes "I'll talk to the police and show the messages you've sent her." I wish he would almost. I have the copies of messages we've sent to an from, I can even screenshot said messages and use them as my backup argument if this must be taken to court. However I wish to avoid this.

Should attorneys or the local Magistrate come to pass, if he tries to get me arrested for calling his girlfriend beautiful, can I return sue him for libel or defamation? Or will this be thrown out? Thanks for reading this, and have a wonderful day.
