My question involves court procedures for the state of: California
In February of 2017, I was in a fender-bender. I hit another person, we exchanged information, we both filed claims with insurance. My insurance would not pay for his medical damages, and for part of his damage. He never took the money, and instead is suing me for 10,000 in small claims court.
His car had very minor damages, and he was well enough to get out of the car after the accident and yell at me.
Recently my mothers roommate was served papers that were meant for me, nothing was signed.
the papers claim it was a 3 car pile-up, when it wasn't and is suing for 10,000 in medical and car damages.
In addition, the papers have an incorrect number and name.
I now live in Oregon.
My question is, where do I go from here? Should I ignore it and pretend I never got it? Or should I go to court even though the papers aren't legally signed to me, and legally has not been served to me?
