My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: New York. I rented a room that the landlord opted to have green. I never liked the green, I voiced that to him at the time I moved in, he advised I could repaint it (even offered me coupons on paint). Fast forward 2 years I painted the room white, I am scheduled to move and he is demanding that I paint it back the green stating the room must be in the same 'state' as I received it. I understand 'state' as in condition 'undamaged' beyond normal wear and tear. Does he have a case to hold my deposit or demand I have the expense of painting it his specific green again?
