My question involves real estate located in the State of: Michigan
I just purchased a older mobile home in a private transaction only to find out the previous lienholder made a mistake on the title. It'll probably be more helpful if I explain the events as I understand them:
I'm trying to track down the lienholders by sending mail to the two addresses they have listed on the title, and I'm hoping I'll be able to find them and convince them to certify that the second lien claim was made in error. However, these are two private individuals, and my information to track them down is twenty years old. But assuming I'm not able to track them down, is there any other option the seller or I have to clear an entirely false lien off the title?
I just purchased a older mobile home in a private transaction only to find out the previous lienholder made a mistake on the title. It'll probably be more helpful if I explain the events as I understand them:
- The seller purchases this home from a family 20 years ago, taking on the remaining loan obligation.
- She pays off the loan the same year.
- The lienholders release the lien by signing the front of the title.
- BUT they also signed the back as if putting a new lien on the following buyer (me).
- Both the seller and myself missed the error or realized it significance until I tried to apply for the new title.
