My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: California
My housemates and I lived in this home for one year and we recently moved out and finally recieved our inspection results. I personally was charged with $812 worth of damages in the master bedroom. $650 was for a repaint.
Here is some background of the paint: when I moved in last August 2015, the room was white. It was the only room not painted a certain color throughout the whole house. So I decided to paint the room light blue. There is a clause in our lease that states I can not make any "repair alterations" to the house unless approved by the management company or landlord. Does this include painting my room? Although I did not receive "approval" to paint, the charge for $650 to repaint states they want to repaint the room to the color TAN. $650 also seems a lot to charge for a repaint considering it wasn't even painted to begin with when I moved in...
Any advice on how I could reduce or challenge this charge?
