Mental Health: Forced to Take Drugs and Blood Taken Without Consent While Voluntarily Committed

A few weeks ago I had a bit of a mental breakdown that prevented me from going to sleep for over 60 hours, so I had my father take me to a local mental institution to see if they could help. We made sure that my commitment was voluntary and from what I can recall from the paperwork I had to fill out I could refuse treatment. But soon after I was admitted to the institution they made me take injections of various drugs and told me I couldn't refuse, then dragged me into a room. Whatever the drugs they injected me with were, they put me in a stupor and I could barely recall what happened the next three days. What I can remember from those days is that they made me take various other drugs in pill form and they also took blood from me and told me I couldn't refuse. When I did start to regain my sense somewhat, one of the drugs that they gave me that I now know was Risperdal caused me to have an extreme fear of having a stroke or heart attack, and all they did was give me paxil for the anxiety while they laughed at my concerns for my health. The next day my father took me out of the institution.

Did the mental institution violate my rights by forcing me to take drugs and taking my blood without my consent, and is it possible for me to seek damages against the institution?
