The father of two of my children, whom I was not married to yet but we were engaged, died in January at the age of 47. I did what everyone told me to and applied for survivor benefits for my children. They were immediately denied. I was told that he need 26 work credits approximately 6 1/2 years of work, and he didn't have enough. So, again, I did what everyone told me to do and appealed. I took in his w2 from the previous year and got a phone call from Ss before I even got home telling me it had been denied again. The woman told me he had 24 credits. Now, I know for a fact that he had worked well over 6 1/2 years in his life, but Idk how to get those employment histories to prove it. EDD said they can't help me and Idk where else to turn. What do I do?
