My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Oklahoma, Recently my father in law asked my wife to co-sign a loan for a new car. She filled out an application online on the dealerships website giving them permission to run her credit for the cosign. the next day the dealer called again asking for her information and she told them she already did the process on their website and does not want her credit ran more than once. The dealer told her they should not run it again after the initial application online and if they did it would be a soft inquiry. Then just today we received two notices from two different banks that her credit was denied for whatever reasons. So we proceed to go online and check her credit report. This dealership ran her credit 12 times with 12 different banks with out our knowledge and she now has 12 hard inquiries from the last 4 days. My question is, is this legal? Can they run it as much as they want with out us even knowing about it? and is it possible to get something like that removed from her credit report?
