Workers Compensation Issues: Will Worker's Compensation Cover a Re-Injury of a Knee After Surgery

My question involves workers compensation law for the state of: Maine

Hello everyone. I live in Maine and have been out of work for the past 2 years due to on the job accident. Had 3 bones in my neck replaced with a cervical fusion and had miniscus tear in knee repaired. A few weeks ago I was simply walking and felt something give in my right knee that had been repaired. When it happened I shifted all my weight to my left leg which resulted in a new and significant injury to my left knee. I have an MRI scheduled in 3 days for both knees. Comp will be paying for scan to right knee and I'm responsible for cost of left knee. Knee surgeon is confidant I've re-torn the miniscus and is also confidant I've done some significant damage to left knee.

My question: would I be right or wrong in presuming my former employer insurance could be responsible for left knee injury bills? The new injury is a direct result of re-inujuring right knee.

I have council but he's away for the remainder for the week and I'm really anxious to get some insight on this. I hope someone can share some knowledge on my predicament.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.
