Privacy: Manager Told Other Coworkers About My Work Visa Without My Consent, is This Legal

My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Wisconsin

So i have found out through a coworker and manager that one of the other managers has either shown, or shared my personal information such as my work visa with other coworkers who have no business knowing about it. One even said she saw it herself. I was under the impression that only the supervisors/employers are the only ones that need to know that information for hiring reasons, not the other employees. Now, one of my former managers had actually hinted that another manager may have been showing or telling people about my work visa. my work visa was in the office where i was completing my I9 form, right in the middle of it, the computer froze and i had to wait for the next day to fill it out because the whole server crashed, my work visa was placed in the safe without a folder or anything to keep it away from view and i left. The next day, one of my managers had told me that he placed my work visa in the safe and in a folder hidden under other paper work in the stores safe, that way no one could see it anymore. The way he said it, he seemed to be hinting that others had already seen it, making it sound like it had already happened. He seemed very concerned about my privacy and had said it as if he felt bad for me. The only people who can open the safe or know the combination are managers, so for other employees to see it, one of the managers must have shown it to them. The next day that i worked is when i found out through that coworker i had mentioned.
was this legal? I feel like that is private information that should be kept between the employee and the employers only.
