Disability Benefits: How to Select Social Security Disability Lawyer

I've identified several possible ways of choosing an SSDI lawyer. I've viewed ads that pop up when I enter search that includes my zip code/city, looked at listings of Avvo rated lawyers, and perused the credentials of various lawyers at firms specializing in this area.

However, being new to this endeavor, I don't know how what the lawyer ratings or other accolades translate into in terms of a likelihood of success of an SSDI application.

My questions are:

(1) how do I go about choosing the most suitable SSDI lawyer?

(2) How relevant are the Avvo ratings?

(3) How important is it to choose a lawyer within reasonable driving distance of my home?
(I ask this because some lawyers who advertise in my area have offices about 250 miles from my town).

(4) Is there any benefit to being open to paying more than the govt-specified compensation scheme for SSDI filings? (I've read that one can petition to have one's attorney paid more than the usual amount. I ask this because I've read complaints from clients who say that their lawyers ignore them. I don't know whether paying more might move me to the front of the line.
In case it's relevant: I'm 56 years old, and live in the Seattle-Tacoma area.

I have not filed anything or started the whole process yet.

Thanks for any input from the forum.
