My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Ohio
Back in 2003 I was in a minor car accident. I had "hit" another driver turning left out of a private driveway at a grocery store. There were no police present at the time and I was the one who called them because I wasn't sure what to do. No one was hurt at all. The other driver was driving up the turn lane when I was trying to pull out. I was turning left because there was a train stopped and it was holding up traffic. That is besides the point, I still hit the other driver, basically bumped her car and did minimal damage to it although they pegged it at over $2300 worth of damage. I have not been employed for years, I didn't even have the chance to defend myself in court because I never received any papers on this case and they ended up saying I failed to show and they put a judgement against me in the amount of $2300 + and I have only been able to pay a minimal amount when I can. I have been disabled as well as a stay at home mom for many years and I am just recently trying to get back on my feet. I tried to make arrangements with the attorney who is suing me in the past, but they never wanted to work with me. It has been 13 years since this has happened, and I really want to just get my license back since they had put it in place that I wasn't able to. At one point I did have them back and then they got suspended again some how that I am not aware of. It has been a complicated mess ever since then. I wanted to know if that judgement can be still in play even though it is no longer on my credit report and I don't see any new re-openings of that case from 2003 on my record in the county it happened. That case has been closed and I just wanted to know if there might be a chance I can get my license back? Any advice on what I can do?
