My question relates to legal practice in the state of: NY
To whom it may concern:
I sit on the Board of Directors of a private Veterans Organization. Recently, the guest of a member was suspended for insulting and using cursive language toward one of our members. She is now requesting membership. Currently, our Bylaws do not address the behavior of guests. They only state that members can be suspended for behavior detrimental to the organization. Can we refuse her request for membership, or would that be considered discrimination?
Thank you for your kind assistance,
Tim
