My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas
I got a citation for code 790 for theft under $100. I am currently working on H1B visa.
I know it is a crime and I am sorry for that. I was doing self checkout and forgot to scan 2 items of value $30. The security officer stopped me at the gate. I cooperated with him. But as per their policy, He called Police Officer who gave me a citation ticket. The security officer at Sam's club told the law Enforcement officer that he did not want to run a criminal check on me and did not want to press criminal charges . He also informed that I will get a letter from them and I need to reply diligently. He did not revoke my membership and told me to tk care in future. I am embarrassed with what happened and need to know what would happen to citation ticket and it's impact on my VISA and work status. I have no criminal background and no history in US and in India(home country). This is the first time I ever got a ticket.
