My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: Massachusetts. My friend is having issues and I am trying to help. His license was suspended in Massachusetts while he was living in NY for a while. He got a third DUI/OUI while in NY. He went to court after 8 months in rehab and thought the DUI was served in NY and he satisfied his legal punishment. This was 16 years ago. He has never returned to Massachusetts since then and never received notification of a suspension because the DUI charge was sent there from NY. He thought that he could apply for a license, because almost a full year had passed. He applied for a license, not knowing his license was suspended in Massachusetts, and was given a license. Again, this is 16 years ago. Now he wants to apply for a license in VT and was told that his license is suspended in MA and he owes about $1000 to be reinstated. Will he be punished for driving for the past 16 years while unaware of his suspension in MA? Any info?
Driver's License Reinstatement Can license reinstated after getting a license while suspended in another state?
