My question involves a child custody case from the State of: TN
My daughter is 3 about to be 4 and her biological father hasn't really been in the picture since she was 6 months old. He would come and see her but then disappear for months at a time. He is unfit to even have visitations with her because he is always drunk or high and I can't trust him to take care of her. He pays child support now, but not because he chooses to. The state takes it out of his check against his will, because before they found out he had a job he only paid when I would contact him and bug him about needing help because I was struggling to pay bills and all the essentials we needed, thank goodness for my daddy watching her for free. This was before I was married. This time before he disappeared, me and my husband offered for him and his girlfriend to come stay the weekend with us to spend time with her, he said he might and from that point which was in March or April if I'm not mistaken, he hasn't shown up to see her. He hasn't called, or even try to contact me about her at all. She calls my husband daddy because he's the only father figure she's ever known. My husband wants to adopt her so we don't have to worry about her biological father thinking he can just come in and then disappear again. It hurts her and confuses her. She's also scared of the thought of going with him. So I really need help and advice. Please. Is it possible for me to terminate his rights?
