My question involves child support in the State of: Ohio
I am in the process of setting up a fund to start saving for our daughter's college. It got me thinking about our court order for child support, and how it ends at 18 or when she finishes highschool, which ever occurs later. When we were going thru everything with the divorce it never even crossed my mind to discuss college since she was only two at the time. At some point, can I take him back to court to have something added requesting that he has to contribute to college, or since I didn't request it in the first place, I am out of luck. I know he won't voluntarily contribute, as he is already counting down to the day she graduates highschool 15 years from now.
In the event that I can't ask a court to require that he assist with college tuition and expenses, can I petition the court to continue child support past the current requirement so that I can use that money to help pay for college? I tried searching these threads, but I am having no luck finding anything that is specific to Ohio. If I can't do anything and am just out of luck, we of course will figure something out if what I am able to fund falls short, but I am looking to see if there are any options that would compell him to help financially.
