My question involves child support in the State of: Kentucky
My ex and I share joint custody of our two teens. He was incarcerated for three years a while back, and during that time, I was the only source of financial support for the kids. Now that he's out and we have joint custody, nobody is paying child support.
I'm wondering if I would be able to request back child support for those three years.
Even though we have joint custody (physical and legal), the financial burden continues to rest largely on me because he refuses to help out with the kids' extra curricular activities, or even orthodontic appointments. So I have to do all of the driving and pay for all costs related to these things, which definitely adds up. He has a job and can afford to help with these costs, but won't. So if I could get back child support ordered for those three years, that would certainly help.
