20 Year Statute of Limitations on Judgement Preventing Me from Getting License

When I lived in VA, I travelled to RI where family is
I was in an accident, my fault. I provided my info including insurance and went back to VA. Never heard anything of it again and figured it was all handled.

Moved back to RI 8 years later and transferred my licesne without a problem. The second time, they told me my license was suspended for an impaid jiudgement. It appears to be a default judgement as I was in a different state and never knew about the case. . Athis point, it was about 15 years after the judgement. They gave me the paperwork with the Plantiff name and attorney name. I attempted to resolve it but the peron is nowhere to be found. I did contact the attorney and his answer was that he cannot help me because he doesn't practice that type of law any more. Even worse, he had no records of the Plantiff or the case because they only have to keep records for 7 years.

Current situation - the DMV says I cannot get a license until I resolve this judgement (and even though there should not have been one filed against me, I would pay it off that were the only answer), but I have no way of finding those people, and their attorney at the time cannot release me from.the obligation in any way. I've been stick in this situation - very luckily without a violation, driving for 10 uears with no license. I need to resolve this. I need to be legal. I see multiple DUI offenders getting their licenses easily compared to my situation which seems possible.

Is there anything I can do?

Of course, I'd pay an attorney to do this. Preferably in Bitcoin.
