A CHP showed up at my doorstep on the same day of the incident, accusing me of not stopping in the scene of an accident and he is going to cite me for Hit and Run. I was in the slow right most lane next to the ramp to freeway merging lanes and person hit me on the right rear, the impact was really low and the traffic was really bad and I was not really sure if I can pull over to the right, as the shoulder was too narrow so I drove a little further and stopped in the left shoulder with lots of space to park and checked my car and waited to see if the car that hit me is coming to share information. Then I started driving after few mins and, my damages were really very small and I thought I don't even have to go to Insurance. And I did not call 911.I was not sure what to do really. The cop who showed up on my doorstep said I must have called 911 regardless of who is at fault. Now the other party called and reported and it looks like I was trying to leave the scene and took all my insurance info and DL info and he said he is going to submit a report. Finally asked me to inform my insurance about the incident and was involved in Hit & Run. I am really worried if this will be a misdemeanor. But he did not leave me any citations, and its been almost a month and my insurance company is trying to get the report and they havent gotten any yet.
