My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Georgia
My relationship of 7 years ended in June 2017 with him moving to Puerto Rico. He packed several suitcases and off he went, leaving everything else behind. Our lease ended at the end of June, whereupon I signed a new lease covering only me and my child. He is now claiming to be moving back to Georgia. I have filed a police report for harassment and threatening / volatile behavior. The police officer stated that since he resided here at one point he could claim this was still his home and I would legally have to allow him back in. He stated that I would need to file eviction papers on him. He's been informed via text and voice mail (by a family member) that his possessions were removed from the property and put into storage. I wouldn't be able to file eviction proceedings because I don't own the property and I don't understand how my landlord would be able to file on someone that doesn't live there. I don't know what to do...
Any advice is most appreciated.
