My question involves marriage law for the State of: Maine
Hi All, Last year I bought a house next to mine for my mother in law, she is 75 and her boy toy BF is 56, he does not work and is collecting a small SSD check.
My mother in law is paying most of the mortgage, I pay the rest ( only 20 per month) she pays all expenses, everything is in her name except the cable bill and she even pays that, they have a PO box so no mail comes to the house.
at some point in the next few years I suspect she will not be able to live in the house, 2 story lake house and laundry is in basement and bedrooms are on 2nd floor so stairs are going to be an issue.
We already made it clear to both of them that boy toy has to leave once she dies or cant stay there and there is no issue with that as of now, I am concerned that the welfare system sucking BF will listen to his other system sucking friends if she dies and not move out.
what do I need to do now to protect myself to insure I can toss him out? and would he have any legal right to stay in the house after she dies.
I hear horror stories of landlords not being able to evict someone for months and months and I dont want that to happen to me.
thanks for any advice
