Defamation: False Accusation of Sexual Assault, Over a Facebook Comment

My question involves defamation in the state of: California or Illinois.

This lady I'm friends with on Facebook had a post up about Harvey Weinstein and the uncontrollable male libido. I made a comment that paraphrases as, "there are bad people out there that will do bad things no matter what. The majority of cases, however involve miscommunication, and it's the responsibility of potential victims/perpetrators to stay out of those situations." It seems like the fact I see the victim as being responsible to a certain extent, even if it's just naivety, that made her angry and led to an accusation of sexual assault towards me. I'm pretty sure this is defamation per se.

The only damage I've experienced is a decrease in reputation amongst a few members of a Facebook group, she mutually shares with the group. I don't know how far this could spread though. I'm more angry that an accusation of that nature is out there, and want to put a stop to it before it spreads.

How much should I be looking for in damages? Is her false accusation enough for a case?
