My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Texas
I applied for an internal job which requires 5 years fire and safety experience and 1 year supervisory experience. I have worked for this company for 17 years in vary jobs all which involved daily fire and safety inspections. The job posting did not specify what type of fire and safety experience and it also stated management could waive any portion of the requirement.
Today when I came to work I saw job candidates being interviewed for the job. I entered the HR department and asked why I wasn't advised of interviews. The HR assistant stated my application was disqualified due to lack of experience. Also, stated my experience in fire and safety was not the type they were looking for.
One more point to think about, the Job posting was to be opened until 12-19-2017 at 11:00 p.m., the interviews were taking place on 12-19-2017 at 9:00 am. I was never told I would not be granted an interview, nor was there an email stating the job was closed and interviews would begin early.
I feel as though I am being discriminated against because they are not accepting my experience in fire and safety when the job posting was not specific on the type of experience. Also, the company held the interviews before the job was actually closed.
