Defamation: Do I Have Rights

My question involves defamation in the state of MN-

An Ex partner of mine works in the same community. I am an opera singer, he is an actor. We dated on and off and have broken up repeatedly. After an argument via phone, we placed an Order of Protection against me, saying I had punched him 30 times (there was no physical abuse in our relationship). I fought him in court and prevailed.

However, he has since been telling anyone who will listen, that I stalk him. He has been in my home as recently as July, so there is obviously no fear or stalking. I have thousands of text messages from him and pictures from on my phone he has sent me.

His current partner targeted me at an event and we got scuffle, I have her on camera pulling me down to the ground by my hair. However, she called the police and said I did it. She then went on to say that I had been stalking my ex for 4 years, and I have a recording of them both on a police camera stating stalking and harassment. It seems to me the intent is to harm me. I have spend thousands of dollars trying to defend myself, but I feel like I am walking around with a target on my back because of an angry ex.

Do I have rights here? Can I fight back and pursue Defamation of Character and Slander. I would think that it should be a crime if you fake domestic abuse and force someone to pay to defend themselves..and I think it would be a crime to lie to police.
